Permits by place
City of Spokane or L&I?
Spokane is one of the Washington cities that runs its own electrical permits and inspections, so work inside city limits goes through the City of Spokane. Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Cheney, Airway Heights and unincorporated areas such as Mead go through Washington L&I.
Utilities by place
Whose name is on your bill?
Avista serves Spokane and much of the county. Inland Power & Light serves many rural properties, Modern Electric Water Company and Vera Water & Power serve parts of Spokane Valley, and Cheney has its own city light department. Service upgrades are coordinated with whichever one serves the house.
